House Plants In Winter

PEACE LILLY

Houseplants are vital for keeping our health and at this time of the year when we are locked in doors with all doors and windows closed for most part of the day because of the winter months.

Healthy green plants with round or succulent leaves are great feng shui enhancements for different parts of the home. They give out oxygen as part of their growing process, making the atmosphere feel more clean, clear and relaxed. Many familiar houseplants like the rubber tree plant and gerbera are excellent at absorbing and neutralizing common indoor pollutants in the air. As energizers they can be placed in dark, corners to increase the energy flow there.

Placing houseplants like peace lilies, peperomias and goosefoot plants near electrical equipment will help to balance the effects of the electromagnetic fields (EMFs) that they emit.

A jade plant or money tree can help to increase your fortunes when you put it in your Wealth and Prosperity space in the southeast of your rooms. Watch how it grows, as it supposed to mirror your fortunes.

To enhance the Wood element in your home or office, put plants in the east, your Family and Health space, and in the southeast, your Wealth and Prosperity area. They can also boost the energy in your Recognition and Fame space in the south as Wood feeds Fire in the Productive element cycle.

Remember Wood is one of the five elements of feng shui and is very important for harmony and balance in the home.

I hope you enjoyed reading this topic on houseplants and I will be back with more on Wood and feng shui.

Be Mine Valentine

February 9th, 2011 Andrea Mundell-Bowen No comments
Please! Lol.

Is Valentine’s Day just a con? No! Says Andrea McLean, it is a day full of romantic possibilities, and I agree with what she has to say in her comment in the Bella Magazine. Valentine’s Day is a day to express love, romance and appreciation for that special someone in your life.

With Christmas and January over and the long winter months approaches,

February arrives with the promise of red roses and candlelight.

I love the idea of the romance of Valentine’s Day says Andrea and I don’t know of anyone that does not love to be whisked away with every cliché in the romantic book thrown at them. Paris, moonlight, beautiful red roses and cut flowers, soaking in a hot scented, candlelit bath and a glass of champagne, opening a tissue-filled box to find a lovely present or a beautiful dress to wear to a special restaurant.

Valentine’s Day is the most exciting and romantic day of the year after Christmas and birthdays. However you decide to spend your day, may it be a special romantic dinner at home or going out to a restaurant, have a very good time and remember if you have a lover, husband, wife or just someone to share the day with you should cherish the moment.

Enjoy life, enjoy love and celebrate each other!

Feng Shui and The Colour Red

January 21st, 2011 Andrea Mundell-Bowen No comments

red chestThere are many special days of the year to celebrate and Valentines day is certainly one of them, as it’s the first special day after Christmas and the first in the New Year, and also the fact that it’s that special day for romance and love.

I get very excited on holidays or special days and try to celebrate them as much as I can.

My blogs this year are mostly going to concentrate on the art of Feng Shui and since Valentines day is only around the corner I will talk today on the colour red and decorating with the colour red.

The colour red is one of the most important colours in Feng Shui . Red represents the Chinese Feng Shui element of fire. Red and its fire element symbolize excitement, good luck, energy, and passion. The presence of red strengthens Yang energy. If your environment has a properly balanced element of fire within it, you will experience more romance, happiness, and good luck in your life.

The feng shui energy of colour red is the energy of arousal. It is hot, passionate, rich and celebratory. Red is the Chinese colour of luck and happiness, the marriage colour in India, and the symbolic colour of  romance, courage and passion in the West.

In feng shui colour decorating red always signifies richness and luxury. If used too much, though, it can bring restlessness, bursts of anger and over stimulation. Better use it with caution, always easier to bring red colour in your deco with details and accessories, rather than with hugh furnishings or wall colour and if used to paint walls I would recommend only a small featured wall.

Don’t be afraid go ahead, add some red in your home and office and see the difference it makes. Just one piece will make all the difference.

I wish you all a wonderful Valentines day, please be safe and please don’t drink and drive! It’s safer and warmer to be in doors with the one or ones you love. Enjoy your home.

Feng Shui Your Life

January 17th, 2011 Andrea Mundell-Bowen 1 comment

The  beginning of the New Year is always the time of year when we sit back and look over our past years and make changes according to how we want to spend this new year.

I think this is a very good time to talk about the use and value of the old accent Chinese art of FENG SHUI.

Feng Shui is still used today to bring peace, love and success into our homes, career and family life.

It is important to create a calm space that not only feels great to be in, but one that looks fantastic too, a personal oasis to enhance your life and the life of your family and others around you.

Here I will run through some points on achieving a clutter free space that will lift your spirits and in turn make you happier and healthier

Clear out all clutter from your home to cleanse the atmosphere and bring along well being to you and your family.

Apply The Five Elements which are Wood (plants), Water (aquarium or fish bowl), Metal (something white), Earth ( something yellow or earth tone) and Fire (red object) in your home or office to bring about good luck for the occupants of that space, home or office.
